| Whew – we’ve got a lot of ground to cover. Not only am I a more than a week late posting about the epic 30/60 party but we’ve also since taken a trip to Cinci, did an engagement photoshoot with Danielle and Chris and other little things in between (like Chupi turning 2!!). So, it’s time to catch up. As you may know, last Saturday was the big 30/60 party for my brother and dad’s 30th and 60th birthdays. My dad invited a bunch of his buddies and big group of Ian’s friends came in town from all over the country for the throwdown. Throughout the morning before the party Andrea, Regena, grandma, my mom and I all worked hard to finish off the last of the preparations – I was multitasking in my grandma’s office working on homework that was due while scanning 150 old photos of Ian and dad while mom and Andrea created a couple of AWESOME scarecrows out of Ian and dad’s clothes. The scarecrows were absolutely hilarious and a great surprise for Ian and dad. | Uff – tenemos mucho que cubrir. No solo estoy atrasada mas de una semana en postear sobre la fiesta “épica” de los 30 / 60 pero también tengo que contarles sobre el viaje que hicimos a Cincinnati donde sacamos fotos de compromiso con Danielle y Chris, y también sobre algunas otras cositas (como el cumpleaños #2 de Chupi!). Así que es hora de ponerme al día. Como ya probablemente saben, el Sábado fue la gran fiesta 30/60 donde celebramos los 60 anos de mi papa y los 30 de mi hermano. Mi papa invito a un montón de amigos y un gran grupo de amigos de Ian vinieron de distintos lugares del país para celebrar. Durante la mañana de ese día, Andrea, Regena, mi mama, mi abuela, y yo trabajamos duro para terminar las ultimas decoraciones – yo hacia muchas cosas al mismo tiempo en la oficina de mi abuela, mientras hacia tareas, también escaneaba 150 fotos antiguas de Ian y mi papa mientras mi mama y Andrea hacían unos espanta pájaros GENIALES usando ropas de ellos. Los espantapájaros fueron una muy buena sorpresa para ambos. |

making scarecrows
| It was a little colder than we were expecting but it didn’t rain so we set out a bunch of yard games and a keg and spent most of the afternoon outside. We had two games of beer pole (or frisbeer or beerbee) going in the side of the yard, beer pong at one end of the pool (very dangerous) and cornhole on the other side of the pool. It was so fun to see such a mix of people of different ages playing these games – dad’s friends loved the beer pole and my aunts and uncles really enjoyed the cornhole. | Hacia mas frio de lo esperado, pero no llovio. Asi que instalamos un monton de juegos afuera junto con la cerveza y pasamos la mayoria del tiempo afuera. Teniamos dos juegos de Beer-pole (o Freesbeer or Beerbee) en el patio lateral, beer pong en un extremo de la piscina (muy peligroso) y cornhole a ambos lados de la piscina. Fue muy entretenido poder ver la mezcla de gentes de todas las edades jugando – los amigos de mi papa son fanaticos del beer pole y mis tios disfrutaron mucho jugando cornhole. |
| By 4:30 my dad’s band set up inside and the music started. We catered bbq – a TON of food that came in handy around 3AM when the guys came back from the bar hopping afterparty. Once the sun went down we spent the rest of the evening dancing around to the music in the living room, singing along to “Mustang Sally” and “Brown Eyed Girl” among other party classics. We also brought out the giant heads as an awesome surprise – as we mentioned before, they were a total hit. By around 10:00 the band packed up and Ian’s friend Jesse Rice stepped in to play some of his originals along with an awesome country rendition of “No Diggity.” This went on until around 11:00 when dad and I got back up and played a few more tunes with his highschool buddy Stan, and his friends Brad and Howard, and around 11:30 the cops rolled up. That was our satisfying indication that the party was about as epic as possible and we closed the windows and continued to jam until around midnight when Ian’s friends decided to head out to the bars. Crazy people. | A las 4:30, la banda de mi papa se instalo dentro de la casa y la musica comenzó. Ordenamos barbacoa para la cena – una tonelada de comida fue perfecto cuando a las 3 de la mañana llego todo el mundo de vuelta de los bares con mucha hambre y listos para devorar lo que encontraran. A la puesta de sol nos entramos y pasamos el resto de la noche dentro de la casa bailando en el living, cantando “mustang sally” y “Brown Eyed Girl” junto a otros clásicos. También trajimos las cabezas gigantes como sorpresa – como les contamos en el post pasado – y fueron un hit total. A las 10 la banda guardo sus instrumentos y Jesse Rice, un amigo de Ian, tomo el micrófono para tocar algunas de sus canciones propias junto con una versión country de “No Diggity”. Eso duro hasta mas o menos las 11, cuando mi papa y yo nos pusimos a cantar mas canciones junto con su amigo del liceo Stan, y sus amigos Brad y Howard, y como a las 11:30 llego la policía. Esa fue una indicación de que la fiesta fue épica, asi que cerramos las puertas y la ventanas y seguimos tocando hasta pasada la media noche cuando los amigos de Ian decidieron salir rumbo a los bares en el centro. Están locos. |
| The next morning we went back over to my parents’ house for brunch and an afternoon of board games, scanning more old pics since I had the scanner out anyway and watching football. I wish every Sunday could be that way – relaxing and having fun with the fam, including Ian and Andrea, and pretending I didn’t have class on Monday. It was a GREAT weekend and I wish we could go back!! Happy birthday Ian and dad!!!! | A la mañana siguiente volvimos a casa de mis papas para un desayuno / almuerzo y una tarde de juegos de mesa, escanee mas fotos ya que tenia el escáner a mano y vimos fútbol americano. Me encantaría que todos los Domingos fueran de esa manera – relajados, pasándolo bien con la familia, incluyendo a Ian y Andrea, y pretendiendo como si no tuviera clases al otro día. Fue un fin de semana FANTASTICO y me gustaría poder retroceder en el tiempo!! Feliz cumpleaños a mi papa y a Ian!!! |
